ImageA common problem with persons arrested at short notice is the fast determination of the personal data. However, without the personal data the personal effects can not be assigned to a name. (No effects are allowed in the cells). Hence the danger of mix-ups is very high.

For the largest police corps of Switzerland we developed a system with which we could solve this problem elegantly.

The requirements were very high:
  • Easy to handle
  • Costs below CHF 7'000.00 with hardware
  • Use of standard components
  • Little printing costs
ImageThe system consists of a PIC shuttle PC with a monitor, a laser printer, webcam and the software PIC photo print.
The arrested person is filmed with the live webcam. With a mouse click we produce a freeze frame. This fixed-image is put onto 4 horizontal, identical, pictures over a mask and then printed. The printout occurs on self-adhesive labels with 2x4 distributions. Like this the first 4 sticky labels in the horizontal can be printed in the first run and in the second run the second 4 labels can be printed. Then these sticky labels are put onto the effects of the arrested person. Thus a mix-up of arrested person and the effects is impossible.
